ANNOUNCEMENTS

Pharmacy Changes
The Heidelberg Health Clinic Pharmacy will close on 14 June 2013 for all services.
If you picked up a 90-day supply as of 14 March 2013 at the Heidelberg Pharmacy, you should plan to pick your next 90 days prescription or refill at another Pharmacy.
Prescriptions can be refilled for pickup at any Army pharmacy in Germany, Belgium or Italy or any Air Force pharmacy in Germany. Prescription refills do not need to be transferred to these locations. Simply choose the location and call-in the refill. As always, for special order medications, please contact the individual pharmacy location to check availability.

Frequently Asked Pharmacy Questions:

Will the same medication I take in the U.S. also be available in Europe?

Please keep in mind that DoD clinic pharmacies in Europe will stock formulary items. Local formularies do vary around the world. If you have a special medication that is non formulary, please consider the Tricare Mail Order Pharmacy (TMOP). This option will provide the most convenience upon PCS since all you will need to do is update your address with TMOP and the next prescription will be sent to the new address. If TMOP is not the best option for you, you will need to see a physician to evaluate for non-formulary medication request. This process, including procurement time, can take up to two months.

At my previous duty station I could stop by the pharmacy and pick up over the counter (OTC) medications. Is that option available in Europe?

Self care medications are available in Europe. Just stop by the pharmacy, describe your symptoms and we will provide medications you need or refer you to a doctor if necessary.

I was just seen by a German provider. How do I get my prescription filled?

Geshundheit! If your prescription is written in German or is from a non-network provider, we have German network Pharmacies (Apotheke) that will fill the prescription. First, stop by the Tricare office in the clinic and they will give you paperwork to take with you so the medication will be paid through Tricare. If you need the medication and the Tricare office is closed, you can pay for the medication and then you will be reimbursed from Tricare.

My wife can’t make it to the pharmacy, is it OK if I pick up a prescription for her?

For privacy reasons you will need to have a valid military ID card or a copy of the front and back. Presentation of the ID card or copy is considered consent for medication pick up. You will need an ID card for all patients age 10 and over to pick up medications for them.

Is it possible to call in prescription refill requests in advance so that I don’t have to wait in line at the pharmacy?
Absolutely, this is a win, win situation. It allows us to provide faster service and you don’t have to wait in line. If you call in your prescription the day before, it will be available by 9 a.m. the next duty day. If you did not have an opportunity to call in your refill request, you can still pick up your refill. Just pull a number at the pharmacy and we will
help you as soon as we can.
The phone numbers for refill call in are:
DSN: 486-5601
Civilian: 06371-86-5601
Toll-Free: 00800-7446-2500

I have old medications that need to be thrown away. Should I put them in the trash?

The best way is to bring them by the pharmacy and we will dispose of them properly.

Have other questions? Please stop by the pharmacy and we will help you.
